Madeiros keeps Coldwell Banker awards in perspective

Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty earned a batch of awards from Coldwell Banker Corporation for achievements during 2009, but the boss of the local company is not getting carried away.

"The awards mean little in a struggling economy" said Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty president and real estate broker, Brian Madeiros.

"But the fact that our little company from Bermuda was able to hold its own in the global arena during these challenging economic times speaks volumes about our customer and client base.

"We cannot thank those who have worked with us over the last year enough for their continued support and confidence in our local marketplace."

For the 11th consecutive year, Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty was awarded the Number One Office Award for the Island Affiliates Region which includes Aruba, Bahamas, BVI, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, St. Maarten, Turks & Caicos, St. Croix/USVI, St. Thomas and St. Kitts-Nevis.

The company's sales and rental representatives ranked in the top eight percent of the approximately 96,600 sales representatives worldwide in the Coldwell Banker system.

In a letter to individual agents, Jim Gillespie, president and chief executive officer of Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC stated "This was undoubtedly a difficult year in our industry, but people need to remember that real estate is cyclical, and positive signs over recent months signal a tipping point for the residential real estate market."
