LONDON (Reuters) - Workers at Britain's Sellafield nuclear fuel reprocessing plant have voted for industrial action in a pay dispute, their trade union said yesterday.

Blue collar members of the GMB trade union voted by 81.5 percent for strike action, while white collar members voted in a separate ballot by 55 percent for action short of a strike, the GMB said in a statement. More than 95 percent of GMB members rejected a two-percent pay offer, plus a possible efficiency bonus of 2.5 percent, the union said.

The GMB represents 2,600 of the 3,600 blue collar workers at the site in Cumbria, northwest England, which is owned by the UK's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and run by Sellafield Ltd, part of British Nuclear Fuels Ltd (BNFL).

Union officials will meet on Thursday, September 11 to decide what action to take.
