Oasis offers home maintenance service

Taking the strain: Peter Rickards, of new business Oasis Property Services, which manages properties and does general maintenance work for those owners too busy to do it themselves.

Busy professionals can have the stress of looking after their homes taken off their hands thanks to a new property services company.

Oasis Property Services, which is run by Bermudian husband and wife team of Peter and Felicia Rickards and operates out of Hamilton Parish, offers everything from property management for condominiums and townhouse owners to general maintenance work and carrying out small jobs.

And the new business is also looking to branch out into other areas such as commercial cleaning services.

Mr. Rickards, who is the managing director of the company, takes care of the hands-on management side of the business, while Mrs. Rickards gives client presentations in the evening.

The property management service which the company offers caters for large estates, condos and executives and ranges from collecting maintenance fees to carrying out repairs on the property. It can include arranging cleaning, landscaping, gardening and pool cleaning services while only needing to deal with one person for the whole package.

The service is geared towards those professionals who often do not have the time to ensure the upkeep of their property.

"We will co-ordinate all the services and liaise with the owners and carry out the repairs," said Mrs. Rickards. "The property management service is for people who do not have the time to maintain the entire estate, professionals who are busy and do not have time for the maintenance of their condos and to oversee what happens and executives who spend much of their time travelling on business and need their properties looked after."

The general maintenance service is designed with people vacating their properties and moving onto their next home in mind.

Among the services on offer are cleaning, painting and general repairs, all carried out by Mr. Rickards, who has a combined 20 years' experience of working in the electrical and construction industries.

"The response has been quite steady from customers so far," said Mrs. Rickards.

"The business is quite unique in what it does and now it is just a matter of making people aware of what we do."

Plans are also afoot to set up a company website featuring pictures taken before and after the management and maintenance work is carried out.
