Playstation 2 lottery planned

decide who will take home the only two copies of the device that are available for sale on the Island.

The Phoenix Annex Toy Store will hold two drawings for customers on December 1 at 8 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. to see who lands the Sony Playstation 2 units.

The company was able to get its hands on only three of the consoles due to Sony experiencing a shortage in the parts it needs to build the units which can play video games, music and movies.

One copy was bought by a local wholesaler which is using it as the top prize in a local breakfast cereal promotion.

The remaining two will be sold bundled with seven games. Each unit costs $499 and the games range in cost from $69.95 to $85.95 taking the total cost to approximately $1,100.

Customers who want a chance to buy one of the two Playstations must drop off a completed lottery in the lottery box at the store and must be in the store when the draw is made to complete the purchase at that time.

The search is on to get more of the units but suppliers are not hopeful due to the extensive worldwide demand being put on them.
