Pupils secure places at the Bermuda Bar
Two of Cox Hallett Wilkinson's (CHW) Bermudian pupils, Kai Musson and Taaj Jamal, have been admitted to the Bermuda Bar.
Both Mr. Musson and Mr. Jamal are now associate attorneys at the firm and will continue their development over the next year, with Mr. Musson practising in the litigation and corporate departments and Mr. Jamal practising in the private client, real estate, and litigation departments.
The firm has a proven track record of enabling aspiring Bermudian law students to fulfil their ambitions of becoming attorneys in Bermuda. In recent years, six CHW pupils have been admitted to the Bermuda Bar and two new pupils, Cratonia Smith and Olga Rankin, start their training with the firm this month and next month.
In support of the pupilage programme, CHW provides scholarships to law students, with four students, Sarita Ebbin, Tiffany Faries, Cheri Minors and Tacuma Stevens recently receiving CHW Legal Scholarship Awards for the 2009/10 academic year. As well as receiving funding for their studies abroad, the students get the opportunity to work at the firm during breaks from their legal studies.
Lorren Wilson, managing partner of CHW, said: "We are delighted that CHW continues to be at the forefront of the development of young Bermudian attorneys. We believe that the firm's scholarship programme is a perfect way for us to develop strong connections with aspiring students whilst, at the same time, giving students the opportunity to understand the firm, its attorneys and what a career in law really means.
"Generally, our pupils are drawn from those students who have participated in the scholarship programme with, most recently, Kai having been a recipient of scholarship awards in 2006 and 2007 and Cratonia receiving awards for the last three years.
"The development of Bermudian talent is key to the ongoing growth and success of the firm. We are very proud of our achievements to date in this regard and congratulate Kai and Taaj on their admission to the Bermuda Bar."
