Quiet trading on BSX

A trading week shortened to just two-and-a-half days brought little change to The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) Index.

Three stocks moved - all downward - amid light trading, as 6.146 shares changed hands. Turnover was $70,810.60.

The BSX, which was closed on Thursday and Friday for the Christmas Day and Boxing Day holidays, closed on Christmas Eve on 3,392.21, down 29.23 points (0.86 percent) for the week. Energy company Belco Holdings Ltd. saw the biggest decline, as it fell 50 cents (3.2 percent) to close the shortened week on $15, as 962 shares traded.

Insurer and pension provider Argus pared 30 cents (three percent) to close the shortened week on $9.75, as 1,200 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank also slipped five cents (0.5 percent) to $10.65, on the trading of 4,984 shares.

BF&M Ltd. was the only other local issue to trade. The insurer remained unchanged on $16.50 as 200 shares were traded.
