Research has revealed that the global average for the amount of days spent on training per employee during 2009 was 10.7 days.
The survey, which was conducted by The Journal for the American Society for Training and Development, has shown that South Africa averaged the most training days per person last year at 16 days, while the US 12.4 averaged days, and the UK came in lowest at 7.6 days.
But Paul Loftus, industrial/organisational psychologist, said the amount of time and money spent on training did not necessarily correlate with the bottom line of the business.
"It does show that while there are a high number of training days, the companies are interested in training their people," he said.
"I think in Bermuda people are continuing to do their training, which includes all types of training from administrative assistants to managers."
Furthermore, an independent survey poll of employers in Bermuda has shown that companies are spending anywhere between $200 and $5,500 per person on training annually, which compares favourably with other North American countries, according to Mr. Loftus.
"All in all, from what I can see, Bermudian companies are taking training seriously and that is reflected in the figures," he said.
