Tech students get computer certified

Technology-minded students from Mount St. Agnes Academy (MSA) proved their computer skills by achieving the worldwide standard in computer certification.

ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) Bermuda, the local certification authority for the internationally recognized ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence), announced that 15 of the school's pupils were certified with a pass mark of 75 percent or more across seven modules - Concepts of Information Technology, Using the Computer and Managing Files, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database, Presentation, Information and Communication.

As a vendor-neutral certification, ICDL ensures the student achieves the fundamentals in ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) and can apply their skills in a range of computing environments.

"We are truly pleased with the success these students have achieved through commitment and focus in their computer studies," said Raymond Seymour, president of ICDL Bermuda. "Their certification confirms they have the skill and aptitude to carry out many of the business computing processes found in our best local and international businesses.

"MSA's students are now set on a path that will enable them to be highly effective within our technologically advancing economy. Additionally, we are gratified to see that MSA has achieved continued success with the ICDL programme."

"MSA's choice to certify to the ICDL standard bodes well for the students that carry this designation. In addition to possessing a certificate that is now recognised in over 148 countries around the world, MSA ensures their students have the comprehensive computer knowledge to use multiple computing platforms and the proven skills to work at a high level of efficiency within essential business applications."

ICDL Bermuda acknowledged Meg Keohan and Craig Diamond of MSA for their instruction and preparation of the students and congratulated those students who are now ICDL- Certified, including Ryan Souza, Terran Simmons-Talbot, Allen Ferreira, Josh Emery, Chelsea Terceira, Elizabeth Sousa, Jasmine Debraga, Marlena Tucker, Marco Araujo, Sergio Pavao, Ryan Sousa, Christine Terceira, Bianca Sadler, Melissa Rodrigues and Andrew Cabral.
