What is your job? I co-ordinate clients' marketing and public relations accounts. I serve as a liaison between the client and the design department, making sure projects get done on time and on budget. Since my background is in writing, I also do a lot of the copywriting for ads, brochures, websites and press releases.

What is your favourite part of the job? Having been a teacher previously, where the results of your work are largely intangible, I like the tangibility of my job. I like being able to point at an ad in a magazine, an article in a newspaper or a new website and say that I helped create that and make it happen.

What is your least favourite part of the job? Getting covered in newspaper ink while doing media tracking (looking for ads and articles about our clients and their competitors) for our PR clients. I don't mind the tracking part, it's actually quite interesting to see how our clients are stacking up against their competition in the news; I just hate that my hands are black by the time I'm done.

What is your most interesting experience at work? Running through town with Jen, emedia's owner and managing director, trying to make it to a meeting on time after the meeting before it ran over. We were both starving, since we had assumed we would have time for lunch in between. We were both relieved when our client was just walking inside his shop as we showed up, and that he hadn't eaten yet either. Our mad dash quickly became a leisurely lunch meeting.

What would you be doing otherwise? I'd be working with my sister (who is a graphic designer in the States) on our first children's book.
