What is your job? As a management consultant, I have a very diverse job where I consult as a human resources professional in numerous capacities depending on the client. I have experience in employee relations, policy development, HRIS and performance management. My day will consist of everything from coaching employees to an HR audit, which is why I enjoy my job.

What is your favourite part of the job? I love that no two days are ever the same. The diversity keeps the job interesting and the autonomy keeps the job appealing. I work with a great group of people who keep me on my toes, and as a team we ensure that everyone is aware of current market practices and patterns which keeps us highly competitive.

What is your least favourite part of the job? I entered the field of human resources with a Masters Degree in HR specialising in employee relations because I wanted to bridge the gap between employee and employer. I have learned that this relationship is more than complex and often I must deliver news to employees that they may not want to hear. This means that as a human resource professional I have to strive to build relationships and credibility with every employee so they are aware that I do consider the best interests of all parties involved.

What is your most interesting experience at work? My most interesting experience was with a client who was moving offices. Everyone was in a great mood as it was just before the holidays and the day was a short one. I watched someone ride a bicycle, with a helmet on, through the office trying not to hit the boxes. It is nice when clients have a light-hearted fun environment.

What would you be doing otherwise? My dream job would include working with animals. I would love to own a dog day care and be a full-time dog trainer/animal behaviourist. As a long-time volunteer with numerous animal organisations in Bermuda, I am grateful to all of my teachers and the furry friends who have left an impression on my life.
