The receptionist at Jones Waddington, Coldwell Banker, Bermuda Realty this week had her work-load cut by a third.
The men in charge of the Island's largest estate agent have dropped part of the largest name in real estate.
The Jones Waddington part has been dropped from the company's title and the Par-la-Ville Road company, which is now called Coldwell Banker JW Bermuda Realty, could further shorten the name in the future.
"We know it was a mouthful, but we wanted everyone to know who had joined together, and we may shorten it even further in future,'' said Arthur Jones, owner, director and sales representative at the company.
The Waddington name will be retained in Jones Waddington Ltd., the holding company for the real estate business, which is owned by Mr. Jones, Ian Waddington and Brian Madeiros.
Last week William Moore, vice president of operations for the Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation, flew in to officially open the offices at Atlantic House.
Mr. Moore attended a reception for over 200 local businessmen and women held in the newly refurbished offices.
He said: "We are proud to be affiliated with the real estate division of this successful group. We are looking forward to working with them in the future to establish Coldwell Banker Previews and Coldwell Banker Commercial in the local market.'' The mega-Bermuda realtor was formed in October last year when two of Bermuda's top property agents joined forces to create the largest single company on the Island. Jones Waddington Ltd and Bermuda Realty merged to form Coldwell Banker Jones Waddington Bermuda Realty.
The huge staff of 53 moved lock stock and barrel from their offices in Meridian House on Brunswick Street and Gutteridge Building in Bermudiana Road.
Atlantic House has 5,000 square feet and has been completely refurbished.
The company will provide a full range of services from land survey and valuation to the sale, rental and management of both commercial and residential property.
Mr. Jones, who first established Gauntlett and Jones in Bermuda in 1977, is responsible for the real estate division and is company president.
Mr. Madeiros, who was last year awarded the Bermuda Gold Award for real estate service, will head the professional services division within the combined entity.
Jones Waddington Ltd. has been established on the Island for 22 years.
It became aligned with the huge US Coldwell Banker real estate empire in 1988 and changed its trading name to Coldwell Banker JW Bermuda Island Affiliate.
Bermuda Realty Company Ltd. was formerly a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bermuda Home, which was acquired by Bank of Bermuda in May 1999.
The accommodation in Atlantic House spans most of the ground floor and has a new entrance to the street.
The office is fully refurbished in a modern open-plan style and equipped with new computers and has a flexible-walled conference space which can change from one to three rooms.
