Utilities firms fall

Two utilities companies suffered sharp falls on the Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.Ascendant Group Ltd., the owner of power company Belco, plunged $1, or six percent, to close the day on $15, as 10,000 shares traded.And KeyTech Ltd., owner of the Bermuda Telephone Company, dipped 50 cents, or 5.5 percent, to close the week on $8.50, as 7,000 shares traded.

Ascendant Group Ltd., the owner of power company Belco, plunged $1, or six percent, to close the day on $15, as 10,000 shares traded.
And KeyTech Ltd., owner of the Bermuda Telephone Company, dipped 50 cents, or 5.5 percent, to close the week on $8.50, as 7,000 shares traded.
Another stock to fall was that of Butterfield Bank, which was down five cents, of 1.23 percent, to $4, as 18,447 shares changed hands.
Fifty shares of BF&M Ltd. also changed hands and the insurer remained unchanged on $16.
The Royal Gazette / BSX Index fell 40.01 points, or 1.9 percent, to 2,073.96.
Volume was 35,497 shares and turnover was $292,055.
