Watlington up 20%
The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange Index finished last week virtually unchanged over the five days, as nine domestic companies traded.
The biggest mover was Watlington Waterworks, which gained more than 20 percent.
The company's dramatic rise comes after water truckers decided to raise the cost of a load of water from $70 to $80, which followed Government's decision to raise the cost of water it supplies by 45 percent.
Watlington climbed $2.25 to $13.25, as 8,500 shares traded.
Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd. was another company to see unusually active trading. The company, which owns this newspaper, gained 50 cents, or 4.2 percent, to $12.50, as 14,500 shares changed hands.
Insurance rivals Argus Group Holdings Ltd. and BF&M Ltd. both fell by a little more than one percent, while Ascendant Group Ltd. fell 70 cents, or 4.4 percent, to $15.25, as 1,810 shares changed hands. Bermuda Commercial Bank climbed 50 cents, or 10 percent, to $5.50 on the trading of only 200 shares.
Butterfield Bank traded 17,711 shares, and climbed five cents, or 1.3 percent, to $4. The bank's preference shares also saw activity, with 74 exchanged for $1,225 apiece.
The Royal Gazette / BSX Index closed the week at 2,114.51, down by 0.16 of a point.
More than 61,000 shares traded and turnover was more than $687,000, including Bermuda dollar and US dollar trades.
