White returns to Bermuda for banquet's keynote speech

Ms White -- the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O'Neil Virgil of South Shore, Southampton, is a no stranger to television and theatre.

She stars in the television series "The Client'' and recently played to character Teresa Edwards in the soap opera "Bold and the Beautiful''.

Her voice can also be heard on such cartoons as "Captain Planet'', "Mighty Max'', "Johnny Quest'' and "The Duckman''.

She has also appeared on such shows as "Coach'', "Picket Fences'', "In the Heat of the Night'', "The Young Riders'' and "Saved by the Bell''.

Ms White's career in the theatre spans some 20 years.

Her theatrical endeavours include such memorable roles as Pauline in the "Winter's Tale'', Portia in "Julius Caesar'' and Cleopatra in "Anthony and Cleopatra''. She won a Drama-Logue Award for the Cleopatra performance.

Ms White's other credits include an appearance in the world premiere of "Dutch Landscape'' at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.

In Boston, she appeared as Kate in "The Taming of the Shrew''. And in New York she played on Broadway in "The World of Sholom Alelchem''.

Ms White also starred in "Sons and Fathers of Sons'' and "The Isle is Full of Noises'' with the Negro Ensemble Company; in "The Knife'' with the Public Theatre and as Titania in "A Mid Summer Night's Dream'' at Lincoln Center.

She has also performed principal roles in regional theatres across the US, including La La in the original production of "The Coloured Museum'', Cassandra in "Agamemnon'', Ariel in "The Tempest'', Ellante in "The Misanthrope'' and Patty Mae in "Home''.

Her talent was recognised as a result of three years of travel with Up With People.

She was accepted into the touring performing arts group at the age of 17.

Prior to that Ms White attended Sandys Secondary School. Her primary education was obtained at Central School, now Victor Scott Primary School, and at Heron Bay Primary School.

Despite her success in acting, Ms White's talent is not restricted to acting.

For the past two years she has been pursuing a degree in early childhood education.

Organisers of the BPWA said they were pleased to be able to bring Ms White back home.

The banquet, to be held at Sonesta Beach Resort beginning at 8 p.m. with cocktails at 7 p.m., will be in honour of BPWA founder Dame Marjorie Bean.
