John Wight, president and CEO of the BF&M Insurance Group, has been elected as the chairman of the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bermuda (ICAB).

Mr. Wight takes over the post from William Jack, who died earlier this year, through to 2010.

Mr. Wight has been actively involved with the Chartered Accountant (CA) Institute, and profession, for almost 20 years. Most recently, he served as secretary of the ICAB Council.

The ICAB regulates the CA profession and oversees the education and training of new chartered accountants in Bermuda. It represents more than 800 Chartered Accountants in Bermuda and its membership includes CAs from more than a dozen countries worldwide.

Mr. Wight also serves as vice-president of the Bermuda Insurance Institute.
