Ascendant climbs

The Ascendant Group rose 0.74 percent (10 cents) on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.The utilities company traded 3,600 shares to close at $13.60.But BF&M Ltd. fell 0.41 percent (five cents) to $12, as 14,000 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank, meanwhile, transacted 7,500 common shares, but its share value held firm at $1.30.
The bank's issue of up to 107.6 million rights to buy up to 99.3 million common shares also expired and was subsequent de-listed, the BSX announced yesterday.
The Index, as a whole, was up 0.81 points (0.07 percent) at 1,240.96, with 25,100 shares worth BD$226,710 and seven shares worth US$8,496.44 traded.
The BSX Insurance Index climbed 26 points (2.73 percent) to 977.
