Banks hit hardest

The banking sector was hit hardest on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday, with no fewer than two banks or financial institutions seeing their share prices fall.
LOM Holdings Ltd. dropped five cents (1.31 percent) to $3.75, with 3,150 shares traded, while Butterfield Bank declined five cents (0.77 percent) to $6.40, as 210 shares changed hands.
Overall, the Index closed the day down 9.32 points (0.36 percent) at 2,557.48, with a total of 3,360 shares worth $13,252.50 transacted.
The BSX Insurance Index, however, was up 24.27 points (3.78 percent) at 665.6.
