Banks kept busiest

Banking proved to be the busiest sector on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.Butterfield Bank's common shares rose five cents (1.3 percent) to $4, with 15,700 shares traded, while its preference shares fell $5 (0.4 percent) to $1,220, as 3,000 shares changed hands.LOM (Holdings) Ltd. also transacted 2,000 shares, but its price held firm, as did Devonshire Industries Ltd. with 2,500 shares.

LOM (Holdings) Ltd. also transacted 2,000 shares, but its price held firm, as did Devonshire Industries Ltd. with 2,500 shares.
The Index, as a whole, increased 8.74 points (0.42 percent) to 2,105.24, with 20,200 shares worth BD$88,865 and 3,000 shares worth US$3,700,626.67 traded.
The BSX Insurance Index, however, dropped 19.96 points (2.04 percent) to 957.83.
