Butterfield Bank's common shares rose 6.1 percent (10 cents) on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.

The bank's share price closed at $1.75, with 10,000 shares traded.

But the Ascendant Group Ltd. fell 1.4 percent (20 cents) to $13.80, as 5,200 shares changed hands.

As a whole, the Index climbed 46.09 points (3.42 percent) to 1,394.31, with 15,200 shares worth BD$90,260 and 300 shares worth US$3,090 transacted.

The BSX Insurance Index, however, dropped 14 points (1.52 percent) to 910.
