Butterfield Bank rose 6.4 percent (eight cents) to $1.33 on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.

The bank traded 500 shares during the day.

BF&M Ltd. also climbed 1.9 percent (25 cents) to $13.75, as 1,300 shares changed hands.

The Ascendant Group Ltd., meanwhile, transacted 2,300 shares, but its share price held firm at $14.95.

Overall the Index was up 40.02 points (3.51 percent) at 1,181.6, with 4,100 shares worth $52,925 traded.

The BSX Insurance Index also advanced three points (0.3 percent) to 1,000.
