Butterfield Bank's rights issue shares rose 50 percent (two cents) to six cents on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.

The bank traded 518,369 shares during the day.

Butterfield also saw 33,922 common shares change hands, as it climbed 7.69 percent (10 cents) to $1.40.

But the Ascendant Group Ltd. dropped 1.04 percent (15 cents) to $14.25, with 2,000 shares transacted.

Overall the Index was up 29.93 points (2.29 percent) at 1,336.43, with 2,554,291 shares worth BD$199,215.91 and 1,000 shares worth US$10,600 traded.

The BSX Insurance Index dipped 0.6 points (0.05 percent) at 1,004.
