Butterfield Bank's common shares rose by five cents (one percent) on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.

The bank's shares closed the day at $5.05, with 600 shares traded.

The only other traders were the bank's preference shares (20) and the Ascendant Group Ltd. (51).

Overall, the Index was up 8.74 points (0.38 percent) at 2,287.98, as 651 shares worth BD$3,847 changed hands, while 8,950 shares worth US$123,123 were transacted.

The BSX Insurance Index dropped 1.72 points (0.18 percent) to 908.42.
