Butterfield Bank's common shares rose 14.28 percent (25 cents) in the final few minutes of trading on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.

The bank traded 18,200 shares to close at $2, while it also saw 10 preference shares change hands, but that share price held firm at $200.

The Index, as a whole, climbed 80.68 points (5.26 percent) to 1,614.02, as 18,200 shares worth $37,540 were transacted.

The BSX Insurance Index dropped 6.39 points (0.64 percent) to 977.86.
