BNTB shares soar

Butterfield Bank's preference shares continued to grow in value, climbing by $30 (2.7 percent) on The Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday.

The bank's shares closed the day at $1,150, with 3,113 shares traded.

West Hamilton Holdings Ltd. also rose 25 cents (2.6 percent) to $10, as 500 shares changed hands.

But KeyTech saw its share price drop by 90 cents (9.5 percent) to $8.60, with 4,000 shares transacted.

Banking was the busiest sector, with LOM (Holdings ) Ltd. trading 50,000 shares and Butterfield Bank 9,655 of its common shares.

Argus Group Holdings Ltd. also transacted 2,700 shares, but all of the companies' share values were unaffected.

Overall, the Index fell by 22.78 points (0.97 percent) to 2,331.13, with 54,500 shares worth $214,500 traded.

The BSX Insurance Index, however, was up 5.52 points (0.69 percent) at 794.29.
