BSX at 13-year low

The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) fell to its lowest level for 13 years yesterday, dropping 32.76 points (2.57 percent) to 1,240.16 during the day.

The Index traded 35,643 shares worth BD$371,423.05 and 16 shares worth US$19,809.78 to reach it lowest point since July 1997.

BF&M Ltd. declined 7.3 percent (95 cents) to $12.05, with 5,500 shares changing hands.

Butterfield bank's common shares also slipped 3.7 percent (five cents) to $1.30, as 8,543 shares were transacted, while the bank also traded 16 preference shares, but its share price held firm at $200.

The only other trader was the Ascendant Group Ltd., which fell 3.57 percent (50 cents) to $13.50, with 21,600 shares transacted.

The BSX Insurance Index was unchanged at 951.
