BSX holds steady

It was a week of mixed fortunes for domestic companies listed on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) last week.

With no fewer than four companies seeing their share price increase and three experiencing a drop in their value, a total of 54,343 shares worth $628,421.50 were traded during the course of the week.

The biggest gainers were Bermuda Container Line Ltd. ($1), BF&M Ltd. (45 cents), Watlington Waterworks Ltd. (35 cents) and Argus Group Holdings Ltd. (25 cents).

But Devonshire Industries Ltd. (50 cents), Belco Holdings Ltd. (five cents) and Butterfield Bank (five cents) all saw their share prices decline.

The Index, as a whole, was up 11.96 points (0.37 percent) at 3,233.04.

The BSX Insurance Index closed down 23.58 points (2.89 percent) at 786.21.
