BSX slides further

It proved to be a day of losses on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday, with no fewer than four seeing their share values decline.

Butterfield Bank continued its recent slide, dropping 45 cents (8.18 percent) to close at $5.05, with 8,000 shares traded.

The utilities sector was hardest hit, with KeyTech Ltd. falling 50 cents (five percent) to $9.50, while Belco Holdings Ltd. was down 20 cents (1.23 percent) at $16, as 200 shares changed hands.

BF&M Ltd. also declined 35 cents (2.18 percent) to $15.65, with 400 shares transacted.

The Index as a whole fell 100.37 points (4.17 percent) to 2,303.96, with 9,100 shares worth $56,535 traded.

The BSX Insurance Index, however, finished the day up 7.16 points (one percent) at 721.97.
