BSX takes a dive

It proved to be a day of losses on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday, with at least four companies seeing their stock value fall.

The utilities sector led the way, with Belco Holdings Ltd. down 50 cents (3.12 percent) at $15.50, with 6,022 shares traded, while Keytech Ltd. dropped 45 cents (4.3 percent) to $10, as 1,500 shares changed hands.

BF&M Ltd.'s share price also declined 35 cents (2.07 percent) to $16.50, with 6,500 shares transacted, while Butterfield Bank recorded a drop of 10 cents (0.91 percent) to close at $10.85, with 362,156 shares traded.

The only other traders were Argus Group Holdings Ltd. (3,500 shares) and Devonshire Industries Ltd. (90 shares), but their respective share values held firm.

Overall, the Index was down 43.39 points (1.24 percent) at 3,455.92, with 379,768 shares worth $4,183,267.30 changing hands.

The BSX Insurance Index, however, was up 43.19 points (5.28 percent) at 859.68.
