Decline all around

It was a case of declines all round on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) last week.

Banking was the hardest hit sector, as Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. fell 25 cents (2.70 percent) and Butterfield Bank dropped 20 cents (1.66 percent) to close at $9 and $11,80 respectively.

Bermuda Commercial Bank traded 2,00 shares, while Butterfield Bank transacted 216,022.

Other decliners were Argus Group Holdings Ltd., which finished down 10 cents (0.76 percent) at $12.90, with 4,123 shares changing hands, and BF&M Ltd., which slid five cents (0.26 percent) to $18.95. The latter traded 2,000 shares.

The only other company to trade was Belco Holdings Ltd., which saw the movement of 11,785 shares, but its price held firm.

As a whole, the Index plummeted 42.03 points (1.1 percent) to 3,810.48, with 235,930 worth $2,874,032.55 changing hands.

The BSX was closed yesterday for National Heroes Day.
