Ingham elected to CARILEC board
Belco's president and CEO Vince Ingham has been elected to the CARILEC (Caribbean electric utilities) board of directors for 2009-2012.
Mr. Ingham, who was chosen to take on the role at the association's Annual General Meeting, is relishing the opportunity to work with the Caribbean nations in tackling a number of similar issues and developing the utilities industry in that part of the world.
"Belco is proud to be a CARILEC member, and I am pleased to represent our company and the Island on the Board," said Mr. Ingham.
"Belco's long-standing involvement with CARILEC helps us to keep in touch with other island utilities that face the same challenges that we do in serving small, geographically isolated customer bases, including regulation, security and reliability of supply and cost.
"Together, we are able to share ideas and leverage collective strengths."
The new chairman of the 15-member CARILEC Board will be Vernon Lawrence, president and CEO of Grenada Electricity Services, who has been a Board member for five years, and vice-chairman is Peter Williams, president and CEO of Barbados Light & Power.
