Insurers' big week
Insurance companies were the biggest movers and shakers on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) last week.
Argus Group Holdings Ltd. fell 9.4 percent (59 cents) to $5.71, with 4,040 shares traded, while BF&M Ltd. also dropped 1.9 percent (25 cents) to $13.25, as 3,200 shares changed hands.
Butterfield Bank's common shares, meanwhile, declined 3.4 percent (five cents) to $1.42, with 70,364 shares transacted. The bank also traded 88 preference shares worth 1,275 apiece.
The only other trader was Watlington Waterworks Ltd., which saw 2,000 shares change hands, but its share price held firm at $11.50.
Overall the Index decreased 36.41 points (2.93 percent) to 1,238.58, with 79,604 shares worth BD$189,977.20 and 1,488 shares worth US$126,280 transacted.
The BSX Insurance Index, however, rose 10 points (0.99 percent) to 1,000.
