Kentucky in decline

Kentucky Fried Chicken Bermuda and Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. (BCB) were the big losers on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday.

Kentucky Fried Chicken dropped $1.20 (16.55 percent) to close at $6.05, with 1,500 shares traded.

BCB also fell 75 cents (6.81 percent) to $10.25, as 700 shares changed hands.

On the flipside, Butterfield Bank and BF&M Ltd. were trading strongly, with the bank boosting its share price by $1.20 (6.13 percent) to $15.95, with 200 shares being transacted. BF&M traded 1,600 shares, with its share value climbing 45 cents (2.3 percent) to $19.95.

Overall the Index was up 207.18 points (4.54 percent) at 4,765.68, with a total of 4,000 shares worth $50,910 traded.

The BSX Insurance Index also increased 0.79 percent to 931.43.
