It proved to be a day of ups and downs on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday.

Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd. rose 50 cents (4.34 percent) to $12, with 1,000 shares traded, while KeyTech Ltd. increased 50 cents (6.25 percent) to $8.50, as 1,000 shares changed hands.

But BF&M Ltd. fell $1 (6.66 percent) to $14, with 700 shares transacted.

Overall, the Index finished the day 0.26 points (0.01 percent) lower at 2,009.33, as 38,630 shares worth $174,020 changed hands.

The BSX Insurance Index closed down 37 points or 4.6 percent at 767.12 as US financial stocks tumbled.
