Mortgages agreed rise 4%

LONDON (Bloomberg) — UK loans for house purchase increased four percent in February from the previous month, the Council of Mortgage Lenders said.

Banks and building societies granted 24,300 loans in the month, down 47 percent from February 2008, the CML said in a statement in London yesterday. The value of those loans, at £3.1 billion ($4.6 billion), was unchanged from January.
