QuoVadis to work with Dutch Govt.

Bermuda-based internet security company QuoVadis has become a certification services provider (CSP) for the Dutch Government.

Following a detailed accreditation process, QuoVadis has launched a service for the Dutch PKI Overheid.

Under PKI Overheid , QuoVadis will issue digital certificates that are used for secure online communication and transactions by citizens and business representatives with the Dutch Government, as well as by civil servants within the Government.

Digital certificates are commonly used to identify users or devices on the internet, to create encryption for privacy, to make data tamper-proof, and to create legally valid electronic signatures. Recognising that Government transactions require high reliability, PKI Overheid enforces common standards across providers, linked to Dutch law, and with ongoing supervision.

QuoVadis is the sixth provider to join PKI Overheid, and the first to sign under the programme's new generation root, which provides stronger algorithms for increased security.

QuoVadis was founded in 1999 in Bermuda, and has expanded into Europe, with operations in Switzerland, the UK, and Holland. Group CEO Roman Brunner also relocated to Europe in 2008 to lead this international growth.

The company has won several important accreditations that prove regulatory compliance for its customers conducting e-business in the European Union, covering online tasks such as government filings, invoicing and payments, and corporate archives.

"Online business adoption is accelerating - and concerns about identity, privacy, and data integrity must be taken seriously," said Tony Nagel, QuoVadis chief operations officer.

"QuoVadis provides the tools for businesses and governments to fulfil their security obligations, serving organisations ranging from Bermuda's TCD through some of the largest banks and retailers in the world."
