TBI launches new managed storage and back-up service for companies

Businesses will be able to keep their electronic data records safe and secure thanks to the launch of TeleBermuda International Ltd.'s (TBI) new managed storage and back-up service.

The service, which is delivered using Asigra's cloud back-up and recovery software and HP infrastructure, will be available to TBI's Bermuda and Cayman-based businesses.

TBI has developed the new service to help companies to meet the increasing regulatory and legal requirements for data retention and provide them with secure storage for mission critical data.

In partnering with Asigra, TBI will deliver a fully-managed, zero-touch back-up and recovery service using advanced technology that replaces often unreliable traditional back-up technologies, such as tapes and optical discs.

All data will be secured in-flight and at rest using AES-256 encryption and will enable businesses to control their IT costs with flexible storage plans based on compressed data size at TBI's vaults in Bermuda and Cayman.

"TBI selected Asigra following an extensive research of technology providers within the back-up and recovery software space," said Gregory Swan, president and chief operating officer of TBI.

"Furthermore, market research in Bermuda and Cayman showed that IT departments today are faced with many contrasting, and often fragmented, options to manage corporate data, along with the challenge of securing data across multiple locations and remote workstations.

"Investing in Asigra's backup and recovery platform enables TBI to offer a cost effective and highly reliable alternative for protecting data - from corporate data centres to branch offices, and even individual remote users in both Bermuda and the Cayman Islands."

Tyler Fergusson, channel development sales manager at Asigra, said: "Implementation of Asigra's cloud back-up and recovery software will enable TBI customers to reduce backup time with Asigra's de-duplication technology, support all computing systems including VMware ESX and allow customers to manage their own back-up schedules and restore process."

TBI will provide its Managed Storage service with 24x7 monitoring and single point of contact. The company's engineers have gone through an extensive training program at Asigra's lab in Toronto, Canada and the service will be backed by comprehensive service level standards and agreements.

Furthermore, customers can bundle the product with TBI's data access, managed IT and hosting services for additional cost savings.

TBI is currently offering commercial customers in Bermuda and Cayman with the option to back-up their data to an on-Island data vault in TBI's world class data centre, the data vault in Cayman Islands for an off-shore jurisdiction, or to data vaults in the US or Canada through TBI's tier one partners.

"This is an exciting time for us," added Mr. Swan. "With the expansion of our multi-million dollar world-class data centre, TBI will continue to add new services and assure our customers that we will always be forward thinking in terms of meeting the requirements of our valued customers.

"It is our mission to build upon our already successful line of businesses while providing the latest innovations, helping our business customers reduce risk while remaining operationally and economically efficient."
