Utilities buzzing

Utilities proved to be the busiest sector on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday, bucking the trend for what has been a quiet week for the Index so far.

KeyTech Ltd. and Belco Holdings Ltd. saw their share prices rise by $1.50 (12.5 percent) and 25 cents (1.17 percent) respectively.

KeyTech traded 2,000 shares as it closed at $13.50, while Belco saw 1,100 shares change hands, to finish on $21.50.

Butterfield Bank was also active, trading 5,574 shares as its share value climbed 45 cents (3.1 percent) to $14.95.

But Argus Group Holdings fell 10 cents (0.67 percent) to $14.65, as 225 shares were transacted.

Overall the Index was up 118.43 points (2.64 percent) at 4,612.26, with a total of 8,899 shares worth $135,470.50 exchanged.

The BSX Insurance Index also increased 0.6 percent to 984.7.
