Utilities kept busy

Utilities proved to be the busiest sector on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) last week.Watlington waterworks Ltd. rose 26.81 percent ($2.91) to $13.95, with 2,800 shares traded, while the Ascendant Group Ltd. dropped 13.64 points ($2.45) to $15.50, as 1,400 shares changed hands.KeyTech Ltd.. meanwhile, advanced 0.57 percent (five cents) to $8.80, with 24,500 shares transacted.

Utilities proved to be the busiest sector on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) last week.

Watlington waterworks Ltd. rose 26.81 percent ($2.91) to $13.95, with 2,800 shares traded, while the Ascendant Group Ltd. dropped 13.64 points ($2.45) to $15.50, as 1,400 shares changed hands.

KeyTech Ltd.. meanwhile, advanced 0.57 percent (five cents) to $8.80, with 24,500 shares transacted.

The banking industry was also busy, with Butterfield Bank's common shares dipping 11.76 percent (40 cents) to $3, with 140,732 shares traded, and also seeing 99 preference shares change hands, however their share price remained unchanged at $225.

LOM (Holdings) Ltd. also transacted 1,000 shares to climb 1.38 percent (five cents) to $3.65.

Other traders included Argus Group Holdings Ltd., which fell 6.89 percent (60 cents) to $8.10, with 11,600 shares traded, and BF&M Ltd., which traded 975 shares, however its share value held firm at $15.05.

Overall the Index declined 129.97 points (6.77 percent) to 1,919.01, as 183,007 shares worth BD$849,480.95 and 2,743 shares worth US$148,090.80 changed hands.

The BSX Insurance Index was up 10.14 points (1.07 percent) for the week at 956.99.
