Utilities' shares rise

Utilities proved to be the busiest sector on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday, with both the Ascendant Group Ltd. and KeyTech Ltd. seeing their share prices rise.
The Ascendant Group's share value increased by 60 cents (3.9 percent) to $16, with 450 shares traded, while KeyTech's value climbed 40 cents (4.7 percent) to $9, as 11,000 shares changed hands.
Butterfield Bank also traded 21,920 of its common shares and 126 preference shares, while BF&M Ltd. transacted 2,500 shares, but all of their prices remained unchanged.
The Index, as a whole rose 21.37 points (0.96 percent) to 2,257.74, with 35,870 shares worth $244,835 changing hands.
The BSX Insurance Index, however, dropped 19.27 points (2.33 percent) to 805.91.
