VistaPrint to expand its Canadian plant

The world's largest online print shop — VistaPrint — continues to grow its operations with the announcement yesterday that it will be expanding its production facility in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

The company, incorporated in Bermuda, has its US operations in Lexington, Massachusetts and production facilities in Windsor and Venlo, the Netherlands.

The Windsor plant is responsible for all its North American printing business and this expansion will mark the plant's second since 2005.

"The expansion plans will include almost 140,000 square feet of additional space built out for both manufacturing and office use," the company said in a press release. The expansion will include 39,000 square feet of office space and 80,000 of manufacturing space bringing the facility's total area to just under 3000,000 square feet.

"The company's product line and customer base continues to grow and the expansion of the Windsor manufacturing facility has been undertaken to meet the expected increases in North American demand," said Wendy Cebula, president of VistaPrint North America. "While the company has expanded worldwide, the majority of our orders continue to come from North America. We want to ensure that we continue to offer and deliver high-quality products quickly and efficiently, and this expansion will allow for that."

VistaPrint averages 33,000 orders a day — up from 22,000 per day just one year ago — serving some 15 million customers in 120 countries around the globe. The company is listed on NASDAQ as VPRT.
