CD&P scoops funds award

Conyers Dill & Pearman has been named Best Offshore Law Firm for Latin American Funds at the HFM Week US Hedge Fund Services Awards 2011, held at Cipriani New York.

The HFM Awards, which were announced last month, celebrated financial progress, growth and innovation. An independent panel of judges selects leading firms based on business strategy, growth, new products and initiatives, customer retention, and success in dealing with regulatory challenges during 2010/11.

The judging panel said: “Conyers has established a reputation in Latin America as hedge fund experts, and has aided the region’s growing potential as a centre of hedge fund management by providing a top quality and unrivalled service to clients.”

Alan Dickson, managing partner of Conyers’ São Paulo office, said: “Conyers has grown steadily since its establishment in São Paulo in 2009. This year, our practice has experienced steady growth. We have acted on several complex and sophisticated transactions as investors’ appetite for risk and better returns continues to increase activity in the LatAm region. It is satisfying to have earned confidence in this industry and we are very pleased to receive this award.”

Conyers’ 40-lawyer funds team advises on Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cyprus and Mauritius law. The firm offers a full range of legal advice to clients in the Latin American region directly from São Paulo, Brazil’s financial hub. The São Paulo office has particular expertise in large and complex financial transactions, including in private equity, investment fund structures and international debt financings.
