Stuck for what to wear to the Christmas or New Year party?Well help is at hand.Budding entrepreneur Maya Furbert, who runs a vintage-style clothing business in Hamilton, has turned her skills to personal shopping to assist customers in finding the perfect outfit this festive season.Ms Furbert, whose outlet Fatimaya operates out of Inna Heights on the corner of Court and Elliott Streets above the Chewstick Foundation, is targeting people who are too busy to shop or have trouble finding a style to suit them or something they like. Her service will particularly appeal to those who fear the rush of last-minute shopping.Having launched the business with her best friend Fatima in New York in 2002 and then returned to Bermuda seven years later, where she has exhibited at a number of markets including the Rubber Tree Market in Warwick and the Moonlight Bazaar as well as the Hamilton Visual Arts Centre, Ms Furbert decided to branch out into offering a service with more of a personal touch.“It’s just for the person who doesn’t have the time and wants to find a fashion that suits them,” she said.“Basically I do all the leg-work for you and take the stress and hassle out of shopping for the right outfit for you for whatever your budget.“I have done it in the past for a few party girls but doing it for a more mature woman would be an interesting challenge for me.”Offering a free consultation to her clients, Ms Furbert tries to find an outfit in her own outlet first before going out to other small stores to source the products, even making a big shopping trip to New York in October for one customer to kit out her full wardrobe.She said that with the festive season fast approaching it was important for people to look at their best for Christmas and New Years events, including parties and the traditional Boxing Day football game.Ms Furbert, who worked under a stylist for two years during her time in New York, developed a fashion sense from an early age and has learnt a lot about style through working in the industry.For more information contact Maya Furbert on 734-7112 or email Fatimayainc[AT]gmail.com
