Docksider pub and restaurant opens its new Back Bar tonight featuring what it says is the biggest dance floor in Bermuda. The Front Street business is also launching a new restaurant menu.Dockies, as it’s known by regulars, has been a familiar face on Front Street for almost 20 years now.Owner Reed Young says they are looking to expand the company’s special events and catering business.“We have just completely remodelled the Back Bar,” he said. “It has Bermuda’s largest dance floor. And we have opened the space up so we can accommodate any type of event whether it be a live band, private parties, comedy show, large dinners/awards presentations, birthday parties, quiz nights, corporate bonding days /nights, Christmas parties, it’s perfect for any occasion.”Mr Young added: “Our catering division has taken off over the past few years. We can cater any event large or small and organise BBQ’s, weddings, company get-togethers, lunches, elegant sandwich platters, steamship roasts, tender rib eyes … the list goes on.”Docksider has also created a new menu.“Our new menu and catering menu will be launched in a week,” Mr Young said. “The new menu has everything from healthy choices, salads, wraps, to our signature beef pie and the best wings in Bermuda with our famous honey BBQ sauce.”Mr Young said events through the summer include Tuesday nights Beer Pong, Fridays with Duty Free and a DJ until 3am, Saturdays with a variety of DJ’s playing requests, Sundays, is the weekly BBQ on the patio with Chef Barney and at 6pm Jam with WD60, Derek Morris and friends, and at 10pm it’s Dockies SIN night with DJ Bitsy playing Euro dance music and requests. He added that despite the recession: “Docksider has held it’s own but certainly we have noticed a decline- people have left the Island and more people seem to be having house parties, etc and come to town later than they used to. But we would love to thank all of our regulars, happy hour, sports fanatics, beer pingers, lunch and dinner folks, for making Dockies what it is today, and also not to forget all our suppliers.”“Hopefully the new Back Bar at Dockies will give everyone a brand new choice on Front Street.”* The official opening of the Back Bar is 8 30pm tonight, with food and $5 drink specials. Duty Free will start playing at 10pm and a DJ in between sets. There will be complimentary sparkling wine, Proseco, for the ladies from 8 30 pm compliments of Bristol Cellar, Gosling Brothers and Burrows and Lightbourne.
