BFIS hosts talk on cybercrime and data breaches

The Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies (BFIS) is co-hosting a data breach and cybercrime presentation along with Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP.In a press release announcing the event, BFIS said: “Data breaches and cybercrimes ... continue to grow in number. And so, too, do business liability claims under traditional commercial insurance policies.”Drinker Biddle partners William Corbett and Robert Vinci will discuss liability for data security breaches under traditional commercial insurance policies, effectiveness of exclusions in traditional commercial insurance policies, policies seeking to cover US cyber liability risks — including regulatory fines for breaches — and will share their experiences and provide tips on drafting policies and handling claims, according to the press release.Mr Corbett is a senior litigation partner at Drinker Biddle & Reath and former head of the firm’s insurance practice group, concentrating in the areas of coverage and extra-contractual liability litigation and counselling in all property/casualty and professional insurance lines, with a well-developed speciality in appellate work.Mr Vinci is a litigation partner at the firm and a vice chair of the firm’s insurance coverage practice group. Mr Vinci’s practice encompasses a wide variety of complex litigation matters in state and federal courts throughout the country, including issues of insurance coverage, products liability and professional liability.The presentation is at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess today from 5pm to 6pm with a cocktail reception to follow.
