Redundancies at Endurance announced

Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd confirmed this afternoon that two employees from their Bermuda office have been made redundant.A spokesperson said: “I can confirm that we did make a number of positions redundant, not just in Bermuda but across our global offices, and two Bermuda employees were impacted.”She said the redundancies were made in order to decrease operating expenses. She would not comment on the likelihood of future redundancies.Last week Endurance, which provides property and casualty insurance and reinsurance, announced its initial loss estimate in regard to natural catastrophes that occurred in the second quarter of 2013, including flooding in Canada and Europe and various tornadoes occurring in the United States.A press release stated: ”Endurance estimates that its collective loss from these events will be $47.4 million, pre-tax and net of reinsurance and reinstatement premium. The flooding in Europe is the largest single event, representing approximately 50 percent of the total estimated aggregate loss.”
