Trash-It NOW is a brand new business — dumpster rentals to individuals and businesses for recycling and trash collection.Darren DeSilva, who is the entrepreneur behind the well-known water delivery business, Water Now, which offers customers the ability to order and pay for water online, negating the need for them to arrange to meet a water trucker at their home, is the brains behind the new enterprise. “It made it much easier for people — it was a no-brainer that we would do the same thing for recycling and trash collection.”Mr DeSilva added: “We see quite a number of commercial entities who are paying for the disposal of their recyclables by the ton mixed in with their general waste, and we see that as an opportunity to do the green thing and recycle — and save businesses refuse disposal fees.”As the Trash-It NOW website explained: “ ... 2013 saw the much-dreamed-of entry into the dumpster and recycling industry.”It continues: “A key difference between us and our competition is that we offer a medium-sized dumpster that is 20 percent larger than the competition, and also a full-sized dumpster, both delivered and collected with one vehicle, so we can offer both for delivery and collection with one vehicle. Being that it’s us, naturally we built a heavyweight truck, larger than our competition starting with a custom UD3300 and HD hook lift. And of course … she’s green!“Before there was Water Now, there was a simple concept; our mission statement: ‘To be Bermuda’s first choice for efficient water delivery; priding ourselves in unparalleled and reliable customer service, effective use of technology, and a reputation for honesty and integrity.’“Now we aim to do the same once again — in a different sector.”He explained their website has an easy-to-use drop-down menu layout where customers can order a dumpster from their cell phone. “You pay online, with a credit card, and you can order it from anywhere in the world.“It may not be the most glamorous of industries, but I see a lot of opportunities for making it more convenient for people — we have found that with the water business.”Delivering and collecting the dumpster is arranged on a customer-by-customer basis.“You may need it for a week, or need it for a month, or even for years,” he said.Mr DeSilva, whose The NOW group of companies, Trash-it NOW and Water Now, are Bermudian owned, said he doesn’t plan to expand into any other areas just yet. “This keeps me busy for now.“But we will be looking to grow in time — from the ground up.”Useful websites: www.trashitnow.com and www.waternow.bm
