Big plans for Bate’s after move to Somers Warehouse

New, larger location: Joshua Bate Trading Bermuda has moved to Somers Warehouse on Cemetery Road, Pembroke.

After 22 years, growing appliance and home furnishings seller Joshua Bate Trading Bermuda has finally found a new home.The company, which sells GE and other appliances plus ships in catalogue and factory-direct furniture, has entered into a long-term lease at Somers Warehouse, on Cemetery Road, Pembroke.The new, larger showroom is hard to miss among the flags and new signage at what had been for a long time a blank spot along that end of Cemetery Road.Bate’s had moved from its Par-la-Ville Road location.From its new location, Bate’s will now be offering free delivery and box removal on all stocked GE appliances.“We are excited about the new location, it allows us to stock more product on Island, expand our offerings, offer parking, expanded hours and save Bermudians more of their hard-earned money,” said Joshua Bate, president.“With lower overhead, more space, and the convenient location, we look forward to serving Bermuda from the Somers Warehouse for a long time to come.”The new expanded hours are Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm, and open until 6pm Mondays and Wednesdays.Having just signed another long-term contract to distribute GE Appliances in Bermuda, GE has shown they understand that times are challenging in Bermuda, and they support cost-efficient operations such as Bate’s, Mr Bate said“GE has continued to bring most of its manufacturing back in-house, increasing quality,” he said.“They also are leading the way innovation-wise, with speed-cooking and new finishes like slate, and new collections like Artistry.”Both these new and different product lines are on display at Bate’s new showroom.In addition, Joshua Bate Trading has assisted two young Bermudians in attaining their National Appliance Certification in the US, and has helped them get started in the field in Bermuda.They continue to seek people with an aptitude for this type of work.Other than expanded lines of catalogue offerings from companies like Restoration Hardware, Crate & Barrel, and many others, Bate’s is excited to also be representing Amighini Architectural Salvage.Some of the pieces are on display at the showroom.All Bate’s offerings are easily accessible on their website, bate.bm or bates.bm.Furniture remains Bate’s fastest-growing segment outside appliances.
