Appleby wins Citywealth awards

A Bermuda-based international law firm has scooped a hat trick of awards for legal excellence.

The firm won Caribbean law firm of the year and trust company and law firm of the year for the Isle of Man in a prestigious competition in London.

The awards — from wealth management specialist publisher Citywealth — were set up to highlight outstanding performance in major international finance centres.

Appleby’s private client and trusts chief Carlos de Serpa Pimental said: “We are honoured that Citywealth continues to recognise the strength in depth and quality of our work across the Caribbean markets and in the Crown Dependencies.

“These awards reinforce our position as a leading provider of private client and trusts legal advice.”

The firm’s head of fiduciary and administration services Farah Ballands added: “Winning such a prestigious award is testament to the innovation, expertise and commitment of our trust teams worldwide.”

Appleby has developed growing private client and trusts practices in some of the world’s major offshore jurisdictions for the creation and administration of trust structures.

The Royal Gazette reported yesterday that the Bank of Butterfield and its overseas subsidiaries had also notched up a trio of awards in the banking sector at the same awards.
