Planners approve revamp of listed building to create seniors home
Despite a petition against a 19-bed seniors’ home, plans for ‘interior reconfiguration’ to create the facility have been approved by the Development Applications Board.
Mrs K Lightbourne made the application for 15 Wyndham Hill, which is a listed building site.
The application was described as “proposed interior reconfiguration to create a seniors home.”
The planning minutes stated that the board queried whether objections to the proposed changes were submitted via a petition, to which the technical officer confirmed that the majority were, but there were also some individual submissions.
The minutes read: “The board sought clarification on the windows that were to be replaced on the listed building. The technical officer showed the plans and indicated which windows were proposed to be added and replaced and confirmed they would be wooden.
The board indicated that they believed the site was “well suited” to the proposal, according to the minutes, and approved the application subject to conditions including that new windows should be made of wood and match the existing windows, and walls should be faced with Bermuda stone or should be rendered or finished to look like Bermuda stone.
