Hospitality networking event at Elbow Beach

BHI executive director Malika Musson

Students interested in pursuing a career in the hospitality sector have a follow-up opportunity after yesterday’s career fair at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.

A networking event hosted by the Bermuda Hospitality Institute (BHI) takes place at the Elbow Beach Hotel today. Although it is a pre-registration only event, anyone interested who is not yet on the list should contact the institute to see if spaces are available.

The institute linked up with the Fairmont Hamilton Princess so that it could promote its student networking event at yesterday’s career fair.

Today’s networking event will feature student roundtables with industry professionals giving information and answering questions. There will be a separate room for parents to hold their own discussions with hospitality professionals and ask questions.

“It is a roundtable set-up. We will have people from all sectors of hospitality who will be there. They will explain the steps that students need to take,” said Malika Musson, executive director of the BHI.

“In another room parents will be able to ask the questions they have — so each group will find out what they need. And then there will be networking opportunities.

“We are hoping to encourage young people to view hospitality as a career. We’d also like to help those who have left hospitality but want to come back to it, or those who want a second career.”

The BHI can be contacted on 295-5049. Its website is www.BHI.bm
